Fractures, fissures or cysts are the more usual forms of acetabular labrum disorders.
The more frequent cases involve young women having either, a hip affected by dysplasia or a history of congenital hip luxation.
The symptoms are: - a pain in the groin that is triggered by movement, appearing either with the initial steps, or after walking a certain distance, - clicking ou snapping sensations, - sometimes a limp. However, the main symptom which is more often than not transient, is the inability to bend limbs.
Dysplasia can be identified in X-rays by the external and anterior coverage insufficiency. Use of arthrography, scanner or arthroscanner will confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment is surgical, carried out via arthrotomy or arthroscopy.
