Plantar dyshidrosis

This is a kind of eczema that tends to be seasonal. Its cause is much disputed; it can be an allergy to a microbial or mycotic source, or even, athlete's foot complicated by eczema.

The clinical appearance is one of vesicles embedded in the epidermis, hard like grains of cooked sago and filled with clear liquid. It is very itchy. These vesicles centre around the toes, stretching even as far as the sole of the foot.

Treatment is often disappointing and tedious because recurrence is frequent. It consists of:
permanganate, colouring agent, fungicidal foot baths, local external cortisone applications sometimes coupled with an oral antifungal treatment as for athlete's foot.
