The authors, "de Labareyre" and "Demarais", queried the existence of "formes de passages", after having observed on several occasions, the association of a periostitis and a stress fracture in the same patient.
And so, these writers describe two new entities for which they suggest the term of adaptation diffused hyperostosis:
1- A painful tibial syndrome as extensive as a periostitis showing an intense hyperfixation on the scintigraphy, M.R.I. shin splint, but no osseous fissure on the scanner.
2- A localised, incapacitating pain develops in the clinical picture of periostitis as well as a picture of a stress fracture within the periostitis.
