Spinal rotation is an essential component of activities from walking to performing pirouettes.

This Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® session will guide you to explore the quality and pattern of your rotation, discovering areas where you may be ‘holding’, and how the effort involved in holding may be interfering with your intended movement.

Through a more balanced activation of the flexors and extensors involved in the twisting motion, you will discover how the improved coordination of these antagonists can actually lengthen the muscles that twist the body. You will also refine the differentiation of the head, shoulders and pelvis and explore the benefits of improved timing of these oppositional movements.

Feldenkrais® challenges the habitual nature of our actions, bringing them back into our awareness. By bringing attention to the four components of action (movement, sensation, feeling and thought) you will utilize neuromuscular pathways that ultimately reduce effort and improve the efficiency of the intended movement.
