Low back injuries are common in dancers and may lead to prolonged disability. Optimizing rehabilitation promotes an earlier return to dance. The presenter will review the causes of low back complaints and the evaluation of the injured dancer. Treatment strategies and their rationale will be discussed. Acupuncture, spinal analgesia techniques, and new physical modalities for pain control and rehabilitation will be reviewed. Participants will learn strategies to optimize the use of these interventions and how to best combine them with physical rehabilitation to quickly restore the dancer to full activity.
